The Institute for Mediterranean Archaeology is dedicated to the advancement of our understanding of the archaeology, history, and cultures of the Mediterranean.

It strives to achieve this aim by supporting archaeological excavations, restoration and management projects as well as the development of archaeological sites and parks around the Mediterranean.  Believing that the best way for Americans to understand the Mediterranean basin is to live there for some time, the Institute also supports study abroad opportunities and programs.  It sees archaeological sites as an extension of natural resources that should be conserved and developed responsibly in a partnership between academe, government and business.
